No one knows how to run a household like Martha Stewart. For decades now she’s been saving us with her amazing tips about cooking, cleaning, and general home admin. Whether she’s teaching us how to make the perfect Thanksgiving turkey, saving our houseplants from certain death, or making us jealous of her friendship with Snoop Dogg, there’s really nothing this lady can’t do. So, with the holidays rolling in, we’ve gathered together all of Martha Stewart’s greatest tips into one handy list. You’re welcome!

Make the perfect Thanksgiving turkey

A lot of hard work needs to go into creating the perfect turkey dish for Thanksgiving… or does it? Martha can help you reduce the time and effort that goes into it. First, keep the turkey cool in your refrigerator. Then let the bird sit at room temperature for an hour before roasting

Blot it with a paper towel to remove moisture before putting it in the oven. When you do, check the turkey’s temperature with a thermometer as you go. As for the stuffing, cook it in a casserole dish ahead of time and stuff the turkey only right before roasting.

Remove stains with baking powder

You can use baking soda for baking, of course, but you can use it for cleaning as well! On some stains, it proves to be truly amazing stuff. Did you know it will clean tea and coffee off your mugs?

You can also use it for your Tupperware, which can easily stain after storing food for a while. Just fill the container with water, sprinkle in some baking soda, and 12 hours later it should have formed a paste that cleans the whole thing.

Don’t bother with a cutting board

Martha isn’t too fussed about cutting boards when it comes to preparing a turkey. In fact, her official website recommends that you don’t use one at all, just parchment paper.

The reason for this is that parchment paper is much easier to clean up and more hygienic than a cutting board. And Martha wants you to have the highest possible hygiene in your kitchen. She also recommends you use paper towels instead of cloth to wipe around your turkey.

Wow guests with a signature drink

You’re all prepared for a Thanksgiving party with your best friends. The turkey is all ready to go, but what drinks do you serve them? Well, how about your very own signature cocktail?

This doesn’t even necessarily have to take a lot of work. Just get your hands on a mimosa or something similar and mix and match to see what you get. Bonus points if you set up your own bar area in your house to serve them from!
